Wheeler's Title Hopes End in Semis

Hillgrove held off the Wildcats Saturday to advance to the Class AAAAAA boys basketball state championship game.

Jerron Love had two chances to keep Wheeler High School's hopes alive for a state basketball championship Saturday.

The Wildcats' player made one of two free throws to cut Hillgrove's lead to one point with nine seconds to play, then missed a jumper at the buzzer as Wheeler fell 56-54 in a Class AAAAAA semifinal game at Georgia Tech.

In losing to their Cobb rivals, Wheeler also was denied a chance for its sixth state title.
