The day before Thanksgiving, and some East Cobbers weren't too busy getting ready for the holiday to take time out at East Cobb Park on Wednesday and enjoy springlike -- or should that be Indian summer? -- temperatures of late November. Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday are expected to be the same -- sunny skies and warm, with high temperatures in the mid- to high 60s, and lows in the high 30s. The weekend is also forecast to be sunny, but a bit cooler, with highs on Saturday and Sunday ranging from the low- to mid-50s. Lows will be around freezing. For more details, visit the National Weather Service website. And have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

There's a little bit of skin showing on the front field at East Cobb Park after a summer of heavy use and a lack of rain. On a beautiful afternoon on Sunday, park-goers were playing football, baseball, soccer, frisbee and even flying a kite or two. On Monday the area was empty, and not just because it's the start of another week. The Friends for the East Cobb Park announced that the area will be closed for the next 3-4 weeks for resodding. The open field between the main playground and the concert shell remains open.
