Just days before his son's high school graduation, an Acworth man accused of killing his wife at her East Cobb home pleaded guilty to the crime. John Steven Kristofak, 58, was sentenced Tuesday to life in prison for the December 2012 murder of Donna Kristofak, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. It was the couple's youngest son who heard his mother's scream, ran outside and saw his father drive away from the scene on Tall Pine Drive, according to the MDJ. Harrison Kristofak, now 18, was also the person who called 911. When police arrived at the home around noon Dec. 22, 48-year-old Donna Kristofak was unresponsive. Judge Rob Leonard sentenced Javin Rashad Andrews to the mandatory sentence of life plus five years, according to WSB-TV.
A Cobb County jury has found an ex-Wheeler High School student guilty in the November 2010 shooting death of a taxi driver at an East Cobb apartment complex, according to WSB-TV. Today's guilty verdict came nearly 2½ years after Ricardo Francois was found slumped over the wheel of his cab van on the morning of Nov. 21, 2010, in a parking lot of the Lincoln Hills apartments. He had just been hired several days earlier as a driver for Rayo Taxi. Cobb police Detective John Dawes said in court that police had few leads on the murder since there were no witnesses. Investigators got their break in the case after Javin Rashad Andrews, the former Wheeler student, was arrested last year in connection with alleged thefts at the East Cobb school. …

The investigation into a series of nighttime residential burglaries in East Cobb is ongoing, and three acquaintances arrested in February learned this week that they each face seven additional charges in connection with the case. According to Cobb County criminal warrants issued this week, Jontavious Clark, 26, of Austell; Maloy Brooks, 48, of Atlanta; and Jaquoria Harris, 20, of College Park, each face three counts of card fraud, two counts of entering auto, one count of theft by taking and one count of identity fraud.
