Earlier today we posted an item about the Walton Band Garage Sale on Saturday. If you can't wait for the weekend, the Women's Guild of the Catholic Church of St. Ann is holding its 33rd annual garage sale for three days starting on Thursday. The sale takes place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, located at 4905 Roswell Road. The proceeds will benefit St. Ann's and community charities. Another East Cobb faith community will be having a garage sale this weekend. The Eastminster Presbyterian Church's Garage Sale also will be on Friday and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. both days. The church is located at 3125 Sewell Mill, and the proceeds will go for the church's summer youth trips.

In a generous act of community giving a group of churches in Cobb County banded together to build a new Daily Outreach Center for the homeless campus at MUST Ministries on Highway 41. MUST has four program campuses, but the Elizabeth Inn campus is perhaps one of the most visible and is the only one focusing on homelessness. The Coalition of Christian Churches built the new building to better serve those who live in their cars, in the woods and other places. The Daily Outreach Center offers a large clothes closet, daily breads and sweets, bathrooms, showers, social services, phones, mail and computer use. The Covenant Churches of East Cobb began a weekend-long charity garage sale Friday with everything under the sun at some really great prices. The Episcopal Church of St. Peter & St. Paul Episcopal, Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection and the Catholic Church of St. Ann organize the sale to benefit Habitat for Humanity. On Saturday the sale lasts from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Mt. Zion church, located at 1770 Johnson Ferry Road. Items you may find include but are not limited to furniture, books, toys, kitchenware, home accessories, tools, baby items, clothing and shoes.
