Marietta Police say the driver of a car and a pedestrian are in serious condition at WellStar Kennestone Hospital

The driver of a sedan that veered onto a sidewalk on Franklin Road Monday afternoon and a pedestrian the vehicle struck are both in critical condition at WellStar Kennestone Hospital, Marietta Police said. Moses Katta, 50, of Marietta, was headed southbound on Franklin Road near Twin Brooks Drive around 3:30 p.m. Monday when his 1994 Nissan Sentra left the road and onto a sidewalk, hitting Jasmine Harper, 18, also of Marietta, according to police. Police indicated the cause of the accident is unknown, but may have been medically related. Traffic on one of the southbound lanes of Franklin Road was blocked for a time on Monday afternoon as police continued the investgation. Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call …

A Cartersville man died Tuesday night when his pickup truck crashed into a vacant building near a busy intersection in East Marietta. Marietta Police identified the victim as James Franklin Griffin, 68. According to The Marietta Daily Journal, Griffin suffered a heart attack as he was waiting at a traffic signal at Roswell Road and Powers Ferry Road around 9:45 p.m. Tuesday. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the victim's late-model red Chevrolet Silverado truck rolled through the intersection and through the front walls of the empty building, located at 1323 Roswell Road.
