East Cobb Road Work Update

Construction projects that may affect your commute in the coming week

The following East Cobb road work information was provided by the office of District 2 Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott: Lower Roswell Road Construction Little Willeo Road Sidewalks Construction Old Paper Mill Drive Drainage Construction Old Paper Mill Drive – Monday through Friday: Contractor will be performing final dressing and placing sod. Paper ill Road Bridge Replacement After school lets out in May 2013, Cobb County DOT will begin work on replacing the bridge and adding a pedestrian bridge over Sope Creek on Paper Mill Road. The new bridge will include a six foot sidewalk on the south side, providing access to the National Park Service trails. This project will result in closing Paper Mill Road at the bridge for approximately four months …

East Cobb Road Work Update

Construction and repairs will continue along Lower Roswell and Little Willeo roads next week.

From the office of District 2 Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott: Lower Roswell Road Construction Little Willeo Road Sidewalks Construction May 2013 Paper Mill Road Bridge Replacement In May, Cobb County DOT will begin work on replacing the bridge and adding a pedestrian bridge over Sope Creek on Paper Mill Road. The new bridge will include a six foot sidewalk on the south side, providing access to the National Park Service trails. This project will result in closing Paper Mill Road at the bridge for approximately four months beginning once school breaks for the summer. Signed detour routes will be provided during construction. Additional detour information will be made available at a public information meeting in April. (East Cobb Patch story here…

Lower Roswell Project Open House

Cobb DOT officials will be on hand at the East Cobb Library Tuesday to answer questions about improvements at the Johnson Ferry Road intersection.

An open house for forthcoming improvements at the Lower Roswell Road and Johnson Ferry Road intersection will take place on Tuesday. Cobb DOT officials will be on hand from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the East Cobb Library, 4880 Lower Roswell Road, in the Parkaire Landing Shopping Center. This will be the second public availaibility to answer questions about the $8 million project, which is being funded as part of the 2011 Cobb Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). An earlier open house took place in November. The project, which is slated to begin in the summer of 2013, will improve or add 11-foot through lanes and two-way left turn lanes, add a raised median in certain locations and bicycle lanes, replace existing sidewalks and add 10 foot …

More Lower Roswell Improvements Outlined

Cobb DOT will be using 2011 SPLOST funds for an $8 million project between Davidson Road and Woodlawn Drive.

While traffic improvement work continues on a residential portion of Lower Roswell Road east of Johnson Ferry Road, Cobb transportation officials are gathering plans to make additional upgrades in a nearby corridor. Cobb DOT held an open house in East Cobb earlier this month outlining plans for an $8 million project, which calls for safety and operational changes on an 0.6-mile segment of Lower Roswell between Davidson Road and Woodlawn Drive. It is an almost entirely commercial area, stretching from the entrance to the Parkaire Landing Shopping Center at Davidson Road to the Stonewood Village Shopping Center at Woodlawn Drive. East Cobb Road Work Update

The Paper Mill Road repairs at Sope Creek are finished; work continues this week on Lower Roswell Road.

The following road projects are continuing this week and will affect traffic in the follow areas of East Cobb, according to the office of District 2 Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott:  Cobb County Road Resurfacing Asphalt paving operations, which will include lane closures with one lane remaining open at all times are scheduled for Monday through Friday on the following roads: Paper Mill Road at Sope Creek On Friday afternoon, Cobb DOT shut down traffic to make repairs to the bridge foundation. The road reopened around 2 p.m. on Sunday.
