A Freeze Warning to Start the Spring

Temperatures in Cobb are expected to dip into the low 20s tonight.

Welcome to spring! But keep out the winter blankets and bring in your pets and plants before going to bed tonight. While the last day of winter on Tuesday felt summery, the first full night of spring will feel like the winter overnight. Cobb County is included in a National Weather Service freeze warning for most of north Georgia, as temperatures are expected to drop into the high 20s in the metro Atlanta area. Paulding and Douglas counties are also in the freeze warning, which will be in effect from 4 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday. Freeze Warning Friday for Cobb

Portions of north and western Georgia could see temperatures dip into the low 30s tonight, according to the National Weather Service.

A freeze warning is set for portions of northern and western Georgia early Friday morning, including Cobb, according to the National Weather Service. Effective from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, the advisory warns temperatures could dip into the low 30s and frost can be expected overnight. "Cool, dry pressure will continue to build in the area into Friday, resulting in clear skies and light winds," the warning says. "Temperatures overnight will drop into the mid 30s across north and central Georgia and into the low 30s in the northern and western portions of the state."
