Update: 2 Killed in I-75 Chase in Cobb

Cobb police say a third passenger in a Cadillac that crashed early Saturday near Cumberland Boulevard is in stable condition.

Cobb police have identified the driver of the Cadillac: Derrick Pritchett, 17, of Stone Mountain. Pritchett was pronounced dead Saturday at WellStar Kennestone Hospital after crashing the car while trying to elude police. The passenger who died at the scene of the wreck is not being identified because he was only 16 years old. A speeding Cadillac that eluded Cobb police early Saturday morning crashed, overturned and caught fire on an Interstate 75 entrance ramp, leaving two people dead and another passenger hospitalized.  Cobb police spokesman Officer Michael Bowman said the male victims, an adult driver and a passenger who may have been a juvenile, were in a blue 1996 Cadillac that smashed into two concrete curbs and a retaining wall …

East Cobb Man Charged in Fatal Wreck

William Webb's vehicle hit a parked car that then struck an elderly woman near WellStar Kennestone Hospital on Friday.

The driver of the GMC Sierra, William Webb, has been charged with reckless driving and vehicular homicide in the second degree, which are both misdemeanors. Webb turned himself into police Monday afternoon and was processed at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. Bond for Webb was set at $3,500. According to jail booking records, Webb now lives in East Cobb in the 1600 block of Roswell Road. A 74-year-old woman died Saturday morning after being struck by a parked car near WellStar Kennestone Hospital on Friday afternoon. Joanne Legg of Commerce was standing next to a Ford Freestyle crossover vehicle parked along the curb on Church Street when a GMC Sierra pickup truck hit the Ford and knocked it into her just after 4:30 p.m. Legg died …

Motorcyclist Killed in I-75 Hit-and-Run

Police are looking for the vehicle that struck a Norcross man near the Windy Hill Road exit Saturday.

Updated: 3:10 p.m.  A motorcyclist was killed on southbound Interstate 75 near the Windy Hill Road exit Saturday night when a car veered into his lane and knocked him from his bike and into the path of another car. Cobb Police spokesman Sgt. Dana Pierce said Sunday afternoon that the motorcyclist has been identified as Emanuel R. Mitchell, 31, of Norcross.  Cobb County police are searching for the vehicle that caused the fatal crash, a silver coupe that witnesses say is a newer-model Porsche with tinted windows. It should have moderate damage to the left front from the collision, Pierce said in a news release.
