A grateful editor thanks readers, contributors and colleagues on the birthday of this site.
A year ago today I wasn't thinking all that much about what I would make for Thanksgiving or how I would kick off the start of the holiday season. The only basting I was doing was putting the finishing touches on the launch of East Cobb Patch, which went online as one of the first Patch sites in Georgia. What a whirlwind year it's been. Starting a community-oriented website two days before Thanksgiving isn't something I'd recommend. But since this assignment was bestowed upon me, my editor, colleagues and I prepared quite a bit for readers to feast on that very first day. East Cobb Patch has online for a year now, and a lot has happened on East Cobb Patch. We've gotten to know the community, covering East Cobb stories and have created a local following. It's been fantastic. In addition to site visitors, we're proud that we have more than 600 "likes" on our Facebook page and more than 1,000 Twitter followers. We're very humbled by those numbers, but they're important because they represent readers who have become active in conversation and activity in East Cobb via Patch.
