Marietta Square Promises Best in Live Music for 2011

Historic Marietta Square offers a considerable number of venues with live music, open mics and great food to feed your need for some fun and excitement in the new year.

When you think of the arts and metro Atlanta, Marietta may not be the first place that comes to mind; however, downtown Historic Marietta Square is home to some very artistic places indeed. Rich in culture and heritage, Marietta Square boasts of concerts in Glover Park, arts and crafts fairs and a variety of area venues hosting bands, open mics and singers alike with more to come in 2011. Cold weather has been around for several weeks, which is later than medical officials suggest for getting immunized from the flu. Powers Ferry ES Marks International Night

This year's 'Picture Me' theme a big hit with students, parents.

Powers Ferry Elementary School celebrated its annual International Night last week, and helped bolster a sense of community at a school that tries to blend a diverse student body on a daily basis.  "We have a diverse makeup of students here; this event gives them a chance to share a different side to them that we might not see every day," says Canadian-born teacher Jennifer Gates, who heads up the program. "To see their faces light up with excitement just from the preparation alone is truly a joy." While International Night is a signature event at Powers Ferry, Dr. J.
