Lassiter Athletes Sign Scholarships

17 seniors gathered on Wednesday to make their college choices official.

Thanks to Katie Griffin of the Lassiter High School faculty for sending us Wednesday's signing day information of 17 senior college-bound student-athletes: A total of seventeen Lassiter High School senior student athletes signed national letters of intent with top universities bringing the school’s total to thirty-seven students for the 2013 senior class. The final signing day included top programs Wake Forest, West Point and the University of Connecticut. “Words really can’t express how proud we are of this year’s senior student athletes. To send 37 students to play college sports is a testament to our students, coaches, teachers, parents and the entire Lassiter community,” commented Lassiter Athletic Director Art O’Neil. Lassiter Athletes Sign College Grants

Trojan swimming, softball and lacrosse stars signed scholarship offers from Stanford, Virginia, UConn, Mercer and Troy.

Five Lassiter High School senior student athletes recently signed national letters of intent with Stanford University, the University of Virginia, the University of Connecticut, Troy University and Mercer University. The majority of the signees committed to swimming at their future schools. Jimmie Yoder, considered one of the best swimmers in the state, will be swimming for Stanford next fall. Yoder, with a stellar GPA, numerous state titles, two-time USA National Junior Team member and Olympic qualifier in four events was a prime candidate for one of the top academic schools in the nation. Jordan Drake, a three-time All-American, All-State and All-County swimmer specializes in 200 IM, 100 breast stroke, and 100 free style making her a …
