The office of District 2 Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott released the following information about road work in the East Cobb area in the coming week, and other transportation-related projects in the near future: Lower Roswell Road Construction The contractor is planning to work this weekend (March 2-3) on wall construction, but no lane closures are expected. Little Willeo Road Sidewalks Construction The contractor is not planning to work this weekend (March 2-3). Johnson Ferry Road Utility Work AGL will be repairing a section at Johnson Ferry Road near Lower Roswell Road on Monday, March 4. The office of District 2 Commissioner Bob Ott has sent out the following advisories for the coming week that will affect traffic in certain areas of East Cobb: Little Willeo Road Sidewalks Construction Detour scheduled for multi-use trail From Monday, Feb. 18, to Monday, March 11, sections of the Cochran Shoals multi-use loop trail will be detoured. The detour will be in place continuously throughout this time and will affect a 500-foot segment of the upland (northwest) side of the trail beginning at the Columns Drive parking lot. The purpose of the detour is to ensure visitor safety during required maintenance of the Colonial Pipeline gas transmission easement. The work will replace a segment of the pipeline. Cobb DOT will be using 2011 SPLOST funds for an $8 million project between Davidson Road and Woodlawn Drive.
While traffic improvement work continues on a residential portion of Lower Roswell Road east of Johnson Ferry Road, Cobb transportation officials are gathering plans to make additional upgrades in a nearby corridor. Cobb DOT held an open house in East Cobb earlier this month outlining plans for an $8 million project, which calls for safety and operational changes on an 0.6-mile segment of Lower Roswell between Davidson Road and Woodlawn Drive. It is an almost entirely commercial area, stretching from the entrance to the Parkaire Landing Shopping Center at Davidson Road to the Stonewood Village Shopping Center at Woodlawn Drive. The Cobb County Department of Transportation has issued a traffic alert for Johnson Ferry Road this morning. Both southbound and northbound inside lanes are closed between Paper Mill Road and Colums Drive for median maintenance. Motorists are asked to use caution driving through the area. They also can text "follow cobbcountygovt" to 40404 to get immediate alerts sent to their mobile devices.

The following road projects are continuing this week and will affect traffic in the follow areas of East Cobb, according to the office of District 2 Cobb Commissioner Bob Ott: Cobb County Road Resurfacing Asphalt paving operations, which will include lane closures with one lane remaining open at all times are scheduled for Monday through Friday on the following roads: Paper Mill Road at Sope Creek On Friday afternoon, Cobb DOT shut down traffic to make repairs to the bridge foundation. The road reopened around 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The Cobb County Department of Transportation is closing Paper Mill Road at the Sope Creek bridge all this weekend to make repairs to the bridge foundation. The area will be closed to traffic starting at 4 p.m. Friday, with the closure lasting through the weekend and "possibly into early next week" as crews repair foundation damage caused by recent storms, according to a release issued by Cobb DOT. The best detours for traffic to and from Lower Roswell Road and Johnson Ferry Road are Shadowlawn Road, which is west of the bridge, and Woodlawn Drive, which is east of the affected area.
