East Cobb CVS Pharmacy Tech Arrested

She is the second CVS employee arrested this month.

An East Cobb CVS Pharmacy technician has been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of 500 Hydrocodone pills from her job. About 8 p.m. May 15, Jakea Latoya Ware of Norcross allegedly took the pills "without the knowledge or authority of the pharmacist," according to a Cobb County criminal warrant. She was arrested Monday at the Powers Ferry Road location on charges that include theft by taking and unathorized distribution of controlled substance. Dog Sitter Held in East Cobb Theft

He allegedly admitted to taking the jewelry and selling the pieces to Kaminski Jewelry for cash.

Between April 21 and April 28, Eric John Duffin was entrusted with dog-sitting at his neighbor's East Cobb home. But investigators with the Cobb County Police Department said that Duffin had another idea in mind. He allegedly took a white gold diamond ring, yellow gold diamond ring, sterling silver necklace, a man's belt and two pairs of sunglasses from the home, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant. When the homeowner realized the items valued at $4,880 were missing, she confronted Duffin. She didn't have to look far for one of the items. An Acworth man was arrested Friday after the deadline to return his daughter to her East Cobb home passed. Michael Paul Gomez must adhere to conditions spelled out in a divorce decree established by the Cobb County Superior Court, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant. Police ID Suspects in Home Burglary

One was already in custody on a number of unrelated drug charges when the warrant was issued Thursday. Another was in the county jail as recently as April 24.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of two people in connection with an April 5 home burglary. Kendall Newsome of Roswell was already in custody on a number of unrelated drug charges when the warrant was issued Thursday. He was released early this evening after spending 40 days in the Cobb County Adult Detention Center. The other suspect, John Bradley Whitten of East Cobb, was in the county jail as recently as April 24 on unrelated drug and traffic charges. Around 6 p.m. April 5, Newsome allegedly sent a text message to Whitten asking if he wanted to make money, according to Cobb County criminal warrants. Ex-Wheeler Student Guilty of Murder

Judge Rob Leonard sentenced Javin Rashad Andrews to the mandatory sentence of life plus five years, according to WSB-TV.

A Cobb County jury has found an ex-Wheeler High School student guilty in the November 2010 shooting death of a taxi driver at an East Cobb apartment complex, according to WSB-TV. Today's guilty verdict came nearly 2½ years after Ricardo Francois was found slumped over the wheel of his cab van on the morning of Nov. 21, 2010, in a parking lot of the Lincoln Hills apartments. He had just been hired several days earlier as a driver for Rayo Taxi. Cobb police Detective John Dawes said in court that police had few leads on the murder since there were no witnesses. Investigators got their break in the case after Javin Rashad Andrews, the former Wheeler student, was arrested last year in connection with alleged thefts at the East Cobb school. …

Not sure if you've been following the story, but it was Andrews' alleged pilfering of wallets while a student at Wheeler High School and text messages between friends about the thefts that reopened this case. He was arrested at Wheeler on the theft charges.   more ›

3,300 Grams of THC in East Cobb

Authorities said it was added to oil, paste, blocks, lollipops and fudge.

Inside a home near Eastvalley Elementary, East Cobb Middle and Wheeler High schools, police found more than 3,300 grams of a drug that is becoming popular with young users. Brandt Jennings allegedly extracted 3,376 grams of concentrated THC from marijuana plants and plant material, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant. The concentrated THC was added to oil, paste, blocks and lollipops, and baked into fudge, all of which was found early Friday at a home in the 700 block of Counsel Drive. THC is the active ingredient in marijuana. The concentrated form of THC, called hash oil, is becoming popular with young drug users, according to the Huffington Post and The Record in New Jersey. She was arrested Thursday on a charge of harboring, concealing or withholding information concerning a sexual offender.

An East Cobb woman is accused of allowing a registered sex offender from Fulton County to live at her home, which is within 1,000 feet of facilities where minors gather. Cary Warren Chassner knew Conrad Thomas Frykman was convicted in 2007 of sexual battery, according to a Cobb County criminal warrant.  "She was informed of the same by officers in 2009, including the affiant, and charges were initiated against accused in 2009 for the same charge," a deputy wrote in the warrant.
