The Superior Court of Cobb County is a court of general jurisdiction that handles both civil and criminal cases. While the court shares jurisdiction over a variety of cases involving misdemeanors, contract disputes and other actions, it serves as the only county court to handle felonies involving jury trials, land disputes, divorces and death penalty cases.

The Superior Court has 10 elected judges, each of whom are elected to four-year terms.

The court has earned a reputation as one of the most innovative in the nation. It created the first mandated Mediation Program and Seminar for Divorcing Parents in the state, a requirement for a divorce decree in the county. The court also established juror workstations with wireless access, fax machines, computers and phones to allow them access to work while performing this civic duty.

Judge Robert E. Flournoy III serves as the presiding judge of this court. Tom Charron is the court administrator.
