Here's a sampling of what's coming up this weekend in East Cobb:

Friday

The Walton football team is holding a scrimmage against South Cobb Friday starting at 7 p.m. at Raider Valley, and admission is free. It's the last tuneup for the Raiders, ranked No. 4 in the state in a preseason poll. They kick off the season next Saturday at the Georgia Dome against Peachtree Ridge in the Corky Kell Classic.

Two East Cobb rivals will be scrimmaging one another when Pope visits Lassiter, starting at 7 p.m. To help raise money, the Lassiter Booster Club is auctioning a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro that will be on display at the scrimmage.

Saturday

The East Cobb Road Race takes place at 8 a.m. in the Merchants Walk area, with the proceeds to benefit the Walton High School cross country and track and field teams. On-site registration is available.

Sprayberry's football team is scrimmaging at Campbell on Friday, but players, parents and others in the school community will be having a clean-up day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Jim Frazier Stadium. Next Friday, it will be the venue for the Yellow Jackets' season opener against their East Cobb rivals from Wheeler.
