Giving Thanks Across Spiritual Lines

This week's events in East Cobb include Temple Kol Emeth's annual Ecumenical service.

Tuesday, Nov. 21

Mt. Bethel Christian Academy's application for a special land use permit for a high school is on the agenda of Cobb Board of Commissioners zoning hearing, starting at 9 a.m. in the 2nd floor BOC Room, 100 Cherokee St., Marietta. 

The school, which is part of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church, wants to convert the 33-acre tract of Shirley Blumenthal Park at Post Oak Tritt and Holly Springs Road.

On Nov. 5, the Cobb Planning Commission voted 5-0 to approve Mt. Bethel's application. 

Thursday, Nov. 21

Temple Kol Emeth will hold its 9th annual Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service starting at 7 p.m. at the synagogue, located at 1415 Old Canton Road. 

Visitors are asked to bring canned goods to assist MUST Ministries Ministries and a collection plate will be passed for Give a Gobble, an annual effort by theWomen of Reform Judaism that provides Thanksgiving turkeys for needy families in Atlanta.

Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 23-24

The 31st annual Sprayberry High School Arts & Crafts Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the school, 2525 Sandy Plains Road. 

All proceeds will benefit the Sprayberry PTSA.
