Braves Vote, Turkey Day, Small Business Saturday

The week of Thanksgiving wraps up with Holiday Lights festivities Sunday at East Cobb Park.

Monday, Nov. 25

Cobb commissioners JoAnn Birrell and Bob Ott will be having town hall meetings about the Atlanta Braves stadium deal. Birrell's is from 4:30-6 at the Mountain View Regional Library (3320 Sandy Plains Road); Ott's is from 7-8:30 p.m. in the 2nd floor Board of Commissioners room, 100 Cherokee Street, Marietta.

With school out this week, the Cobb County Public Library System has arranged some Thanksgiving-related events for children, including a Family Gaming Day from 1-2:30 p.m.. That's also at the Mountain View Regional Library, which will have a "G-rated" movie screening on Tuesday from 1-2:30 p.m. 

Tuesday, Nov. 26

The commissioners are scheduled to vote on the Braves Stadium deal during their regular business meeting that begins at 7 p.m. in the 2nd floor Board of Commissioners room, 100 Cherokee Street, Marietta.

Thursday, Nov. 28

Happy Thanksgiving East Cobb!

The 11th annual Gobble Jog returns to the downtown Marietta area, with the 10K run starting at 7:30 a.m. and a 5K event and fun run to follow. The event benefits MUST Ministries (register online here).

The Cobb Chanukah Expo continues at the Fountains of Olde Towne, 736 Johnson Ferry Road, with a craft show from 12-3 p.m. 

Friday, Nov. 29

The Kell High School Longhorns play host to Warner Robins in a quarterfinal game in the Georgia High School Association Class AAAAA state football playoffs. Kickoff time is 7:30 p.m. at "The Stockyard," 4770 Lee Waters Road.

Saturday, Nov. 30

Small Business Saturday encourages shoppers to buy from local merchants and service-providers. Among the participating East Cobb businesses are those at Paper Mill Village

Sunday, Dec. 1

The Holiday Lights at East Cobb Park will be turned on starting at 5 p.m., and the event includes music and a visit from Santa Claus.
