The Dentistry from the Heart event came in response to an economy that remains sluggish, with unemployment in Georgia at 10.2 percent in October, according to the Georgia Department of Labor. The event was similar in intent to a at in August.

Dentists Michael and Azita Mansouri hosted the free clinic at their office in East Cobb and recruited a total of 15 dentists and 60 hygienists and other dental professionals to provide the care, the MDJ reported.

The clinic, including gift bags of dental hygiene products, cost $20,000, all covered by sponsorships, Michael Mansouri told the MDJ.

The goal was to treat at least 150 people, 11Alive reported. The clinic easily exceeded that number, then had to turn people away, WSB-TV said.
