Wheeler, Walker Roll; Walton Falls

Three East Cobb teams have begun their football seasons.

Elijah Staley is far from the only offensive weapon the Wheeler Wildcats will be leaning on this season.

Devontae Jackson introduced himself to Sprayberry and the Cobb football scene in a big way Friday, rushing for 216 yards on just three carries, and they were all touchdowns.

For Jackson, a senior tailback, two of those scoring runs were for 93 and 97 yards, respectively, as the Wildcats rolled over Sprayberry 44-14 in the season opener for both teams.

Staley threw for three more touchdowns for Wheeler.

As the MDJ reports, Wheeler coach Mike Collins pulled most of his starters with a 41-7 halftime lead.

On Saturday afternoon at the Corky Kell Classic, Walton led Peachtree Ridge 14-3 but suffered a 23-17 loss at the Georgia Dome.

Quarterback Price Wilson threw two early touchdown passes for the Raiders, who led 17-16 at halftime but did not score after that.

The Walker School traveled to Temple on Friday and came away with a 21-0 win as Cameron Bloebaum threw for three touchdowns.

Pope and Lassiter's season openers will be next Friday.
