Wheeler, Pope Wrestling Reach State Duals

The competition begins Thursday in Macon.

The Pope High School wrestling team cruised to the Region 7-AAAAA duals championship.

As expected.

The Wheeler High School wrestling team finished second in the Region 5-AAAAAA meet over the weekend.

Unexpected.

For the first time in school history, the Wildcats qualified for the Georgia High School Association state duals wrestling tournament, slated for Thursday-Saturday in Macon.

After winning their first state duals title last year, the Pope Greyhounds are favored to repeat.

In Thursday's first round, Wheeler will meet Alcovy of Newton County. In Class AAAAA, Pope, the overall No. 1 seed, faces Hardaway of Columbus.

Also representing Cobb with Wheeler in the Class AAAAAA event are Kennesaw Mountain and Marietta.

I'll be there; rabbi Alper should be good (his You Tube videos are entertaining). CongratulationsRead More to Henry Hene and the Habitat coalition for doing such wonderful work and promoting "We Build to Coexist, We Coexist to Build." Congratulations to Addie and Harvey Schneider -- both are the definition of mensch.

Hurray for the "old school" which just means having a few manners. Ms. Smith alwaysRead More seems to present three facts after what seems to be extensive research. People can disagree without being rude or spouting half truths. I'm glad we still have some ethical and honest people in our midst.
