Wheeler Hangs On In Season Opener

The Wildcats overcame penalties to edge Sprayberry Friday.

Wheeler got its only touchdown of the night on a fourth-quarter interception return by Allen Artis, as the Wildcats claimed their first season opener in nine years Friday in a 10-7 win over Sprayberry.

Wheeler (1-0) overcame nearly 100 yards in penalties to claim the home victory over their East Cobb rivals, whom they haven't played in five years.

The game was a non-region contest for both teams.

More on the story from The Marietta Daily Journal

The Wildcats are off next week and will play at Pope on Sept. 7. Sprayberry (0-1) plays Kennesaw Mountain next Friday.

I'll be there; rabbi Alper should be good (his You Tube videos are entertaining). CongratulationsRead More to Henry Hene and the Habitat coalition for doing such wonderful work and promoting "We Build to Coexist, We Coexist to Build." Congratulations to Addie and Harvey Schneider -- both are the definition of mensch.

Hurray for the "old school" which just means having a few manners. Ms. Smith alwaysRead More seems to present three facts after what seems to be extensive research. People can disagree without being rude or spouting half truths. I'm glad we still have some ethical and honest people in our midst.
