Weekend Roundup: Pope Upsets East Paulding

Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in East Cobb Patch.

Pope 29, East Paulding 23 – Even though three teams are tied atop the Region 5N-AAAA standings, stands to win the subregion because of tiebreaker scenarios, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. The Greyhounds upset previously unbeaten and fourth-ranked East Paulding on the road Friday and scored as many points Friday as have been scored on the Raiders in their last seven games combined.

Walton 45, Wheeler 7 – moved to 8-0 overall and 4-0 in Region 5-AAAAA play Friday when it pasted 45 points on Wheeler. The Raiders are ranked eighth in the state and have allowed opponents just 20 points over the last three games combined. has now lost three games in a row and is 1-3 in the region.

Mount Paran Christian 25, Walker 22 – Walker was ahead with just over a minute to play Friday, according to the Marietta Daily Journal, and had Mount Paran pinned on its own 35-yard line with a 4th-and-15 to come. The Walker defense collapsed and allowed a 65-yard touchdown pass and lost for the fourth time in as many games.
