Wheeler High School's star center Daniel Giddens will be trading in his Wildcats jersey for the scarlet and gray of Ohio State University starting in 2015.

Giddens announced his decision to commit on July 4, his birthday. He made his official visit to Ohio State's Columbus campus during the last few days of June, and said the area already felt like home.

The Marietta Daily Journal reports that Giddens, a rising senior and four-star recruit, was eager to officially sign with the Buckeyes.

Giddens has made his impact in the paint, where his gritty style of play and big body has helped lead the Wildcats to three straight region titles and back-to-back state final four appearances.

During the 2013 U-16 Americas Championships, Giddens hauled down an average of six rebounds a game. In the same tournament, Giddens scored at a 6.8 PPG clip during 13 minutes of action per game.

The 6'10", 223 lb. 17-year-old measured a 7'2.5" wingspan at the 2014 Nike Skills Academy, and has a 9 foot standing reach.
