Walton Volleyball Reaches State Finals

The No. 1 Lady Raiders face No. 2 Chattahoochee Friday at Marietta High School.

The Walton High School volleyball team will be aiming for its fourth consecutive state championship this weekend -- and very close to home.

The Lady Raiders downed South Forsyth in straight sets Wednesday in the Georgia High School Association Class AAAAAA semifinals.

On Friday they will face Chattahoochee in the finals at Marietta High School. The match begins at 7:30 p.m.

For Walton, 43-6, and ranked No. 1, the semifinals were no different than most of the rest of the season. The Lady Raiders won by scores of 25-15, 25-15, 25-9 to extend their winning streak to 23 consecutive matches.

Since their last loss in September to a team in Florida, they have dropped only two games, that in the Area 4-AAAAAA finals to Roswell.

No. 2 Chattahoochee, 48-9, downed Johns Creek 3-2 in the other semifinal.

Walton won an early-season match over Chattahoochee 2-1.
