Walton Swimmers Shine in Cobb Meet

The Raiders boys claimed the county title Saturday, while the girls were runners-up at the Mountain View Aquatic Center.

The Walton High School boys swimming team won its second title in three years in the Cobb County Championships Saturday night at the Mountain View Aquatic Center, while the girls were runners-up to Lassiter. 

Walton diver David Sanchez' victory on Thursday got the Raiders boys off to a good start, as they bested Lassiter by 69 points.

Sean Sloat of Wheeler had a strong individual finish, setting all-American records in the 50 freestyle (21.10) and the 100 freestyle 47.10.

The county meet was the final major competition before the Georgia High School Association state championships Feb. 11-12 at Georgia Tech.
