Walton-Lassiter Game on GPTV

The Friday night football showdown between Walton and Lassiter is shaping up to be one of the biggest in the East Cobb area this season. 

It's also been declared ready for prime-time television viewing. 

The contest at Raider Valley between the two Class AAAAA unbeatens is the featured game of the week for Georgia Public Television, which means that kickoff time is a bit later than usual. 

Instead of getting underway at 7:30 p.m., the start time is 8:05 p.m.

The Walton-Lassiter game is notable in another significant way. One of the players to watch is Walton running back Tyren Jones, who already has rushed for 920 yards for the season, the tops in Georgia. Jones, a junior, transferred from Lassiter over the summer.  

Unranked Walton is 5-0 on the season and 1-0 in Region 5-AAAAA after defeating Etowah last week. Lassiter, ranked No. 9 in Class AAAAA, is 4-0 and 0-0 and is coming off a bye week. 

There's another big East Cobb-area clash on Friday in Class AAAA, where No. 9 Pope (4-0, 1-0 in Region 5-AAAA) plays host to the Kell Longhorns (3-2, 1-1). That game kicks off at 7:30 p.m.
