Walton Boys Soccer Team Dethroned

It was a tough night for Raiders teams on Friday as Parkview won in overtime and the boys tennis team was eliminated.

hopes of winning a second consecutive boys Class AAAAA state championship slipped away in the final seconds of overtime on Friday. 

The Raiders lost two separate leads against Parkview in their quarterfinal matchup, and ultimately fell 3-2 to the Gwinnett school at Raider Valley.

Zachary Welsh got the game-winner on a header for the Panthers with 12 seconds to play, as Walton teams finished a disappointing day in Georgia High School Association competition.

Earlier on Friday, the boys tennis team lost by the same score 3-2 -- to Westlake in the Class AAAAA semifinals in Jonesboro. 

Walton's soccer loss was the second by an East Cobb school to Gwinnett in the quarterfinals. Lassiter's run was ended on Friday in a 4-2 loss to Brookwood as the Trojans gave up all four goals in the second half.
