Thursday Night Football in East Cobb

For the second year in a row, Pope and Sprayberry will be meeting a day before the traditional high school schedule.

Perhaps last year's game was just the appetizer.

For the second year in a row, the Pope vs. Sprayberry game will be played on a Thursday night -- tonight, in fact, at Pope's home field, 3001 Hembree Road.

And it's a big Region 7-AAAAA subdivision B game for the Greyhounds and Yellow Jackets, who will kick off a little earlier than usual as well -- at 7 p.m.

In last year's game, Sprayberry led Pope 21-6 going into the fourth quarter before the Greyhounds recovered for a 27-21 Homecoming win.

And just as last year, is being played a day early for television purposes. It is part of the Georgia High School Association's agreement with WSB-TV, which will air the contest online and on Comcast Channel 248 and Charter Channel 126.

Television coverage will be on a tape delay, beginning at 7:30 p.m. A replay will be available on WSB-TV at 1 a.m. Friday.

Pope is 4-2 and 2-0 in region play, and the Greyhounds have won four games in a row. Sprayberry is 2-4 and 1-0, following a nailbiting 24-21 win over Riverwood last week.

I'll be there; rabbi Alper should be good (his You Tube videos are entertaining). CongratulationsRead More to Henry Hene and the Habitat coalition for doing such wonderful work and promoting "We Build to Coexist, We Coexist to Build." Congratulations to Addie and Harvey Schneider -- both are the definition of mensch.

Hurray for the "old school" which just means having a few manners. Ms. Smith alwaysRead More seems to present three facts after what seems to be extensive research. People can disagree without being rude or spouting half truths. I'm glad we still have some ethical and honest people in our midst.
