Sandy Plains Team Dedicates Season To Trooper

The Wildcats youth baseball team playing season while honoring memory of Chadwick LeCroy.

The Sandy Plains Wildcats have dedicated their season to slain Georgia Trooper Chad LeCroy and his family by wearing his badge number 744 on their hats and jerseys.

LeCroy's 11-year-old brother, Jake LeCroy, is a team member and his father, Bill LeCroy, is a coach.

The Wildcats started their baseball season last weekend.

"The kids played amazing and have handled all of the extra attention extremely well. Jake hit a homerun on the first pitch he saw of the season. The team finished third after all was said and done," said Wildcats Coach Brian Smith.

Aside from playing ball, the Wildcats raised over $2,000 for the Lecroy Family following a Silent Auction held last weekend.
