Pope Wrestling Dynasty Rolls On

The Greyhounds won another state title and produced five individual champions in the traditional finals Saturday.

For the third year in a row, the Pope High School wrestling team has won a state traditional team championship.

In crushing the Class A-AAAAA competition in Macon this weekend, the Greyhounds also had five individual wrestlers earn state championships at the end of a three-year run that Pope coach Jim Haskin told The Marietta Daily Journal was "unprecedented."

Combined with state duals titles in the last two seasons, Pope's status as the top high school wrestling program in Georgia is hardly in doubt.
