Pope's Rowland Named Coach of the Year

The longtime Greyhounds' mentor was honored last week by the Braves 400 Club.

Jeff Rowland of Pope High School (center in photo) was named one of three metro Atlanta prep baseball coaches of the year by the Braves 400 Club.

Rowland, who led the Greyhounds to the Georgia High School Association Class AAAAA state title last month, was honred at a recent 400 Club luncheon with fellow coaches Marvin Pruitt of Redan High School (left) and Joey Ray of Milton High School.

Redan and Milton also won state championships.

Rowland has coached at Pope for 18 seasons and led the Greyhounds to a previous state title in 2009.
