Walton's Title Hopes Fall Short

The Raiders fell behind early and couldn't recover in losing 24-0 to Grayson in the Class AAAAA championship game.

The Georgia Class AAAAA state football championship game didn't go Walton's way as Grayson flattened the Raiders by a 24-0 score on Saturday at the Georgia Dome.

The Raiders finished their best season ever at 14-1 but a game short of winning the first state football crown by a Cobb County team since 1966.

Coming later, we'll have highlights, reaction and plenty of photos from the Georgia Dome.

Congratulations to the Walton coaches, players, parents and others associated with such a great season.

It turns out Tyren Jones was wearing Jacob Murphy's jersey during that last drive after Robert Nkemdiche tore his No. 1 jersey. So the references to runs by Murphy actually are Jones.
