Lassiter, Walton Routed; Kell Advances

The vandals who defaced Lassiter's football field did the least damage.

It was Jordan Ellis who truly hurt the Trojans when it mattered Friday during their first-round state football playoff game at Frank Fillman Stadium.

The Peachtree Ridge running back ran all over the Lassiter defense, rushing for 262 yards and scoring six touchdowns in a 59-20 win.

Lassiter (7-4) got off to a quick and encouraging start, leading 7-0 a couple of minutes in on a long touchdown pass from Will Anderson to Quincy Perdue.

The Trojans also led 14-7, but that's when Ellis and Peachtree Ridge went to work, building a 45-20 lead at halftime.

For the second year in a row, Lassiter, which won the Region 5-AAAAAA title, had home field advantage to start the playoffs but fell to a Gwinnett team.

Collins Hill 41, Walton 7

Walton had to travel to Gwinnett for its first round game, and the Raiders were overwhelmed as Tyler Henderson scored four touchdowns for Collins Hill.

D.J. Smith scored the lone touchdown in the third quarter for Walton, which finished with a 6-5 record.

Kell 31, Allatoona 17

In an all-Cobb matchup, Kell struggled in the first half, but scored 17 points off turnovers to pull away in a game played at the Northeast Cobb school.

The Longhorns, who are now 11-0 on the season, will remain at home next Friday when the face Mays in the second round.
