Lassiter Swimmer Earns Top Honor

Jimmy Yoder has been tabbed the best in his sport by the AJC.

When he packs up and heads to Stanford University this fall, Jimmy Yoder will be able to add one more designation to a very long list of accomplishments.

Yoder has been named the top male prep swimmer in Georgia by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, which rolled out its sport-by-sport honor roll on Friday.

The recent Lassiter High School graduate leaves as one of the school's most decorated athletes in any sport. As a senior, he won four state championships and guided the Trojans to a third-place finish in the Georgia High School Association Class AAAAAA state meet.

His victory in the 100-meter butterly also set a state record (48.55 seconds). When he committed to compete at Stanford, a swimming website called Yoder "the first big verbal" for coach Ted Knapp.

The Cardinal finished 7th in the NCAA championships this season.

Earlier this spring, The Marietta Daily Journal named Yoder its male swimmer of the year after he helped establish multiple records in county events.
