Kell Reaches Semifinals for First Time

The Longhorns routed Warner Robins and will face Creekside next Friday.

In routing Warner Robins Friday, the Kell High School football team accomplished a notable feat.

The Longhorns (13-0), who won easily at home by a 52-28 score, advanced to the state football playoff semifinals for the first time.

Next Friday, they will be facing another undefeated team in south Fulton's Creekside (also 13-0), which defeated North Paulding 41-14.

All that remains to be determined is where to play the game.

That will come on Sunday. The Marietta Daily Journal said this morning that the Georgia High School Association will select the venue since the home stadiums for Kell and Creekside aren't big enough.

The GHSA requires a 4,000-seat minimum for semifinal games.

A packed house at "The Stockyard" at Kell watched the Longhorns roll to an easy 24-0 lead at halftime Friday.

Jay Moxey ran for three touchdowns and Julian Burris scored two more, including one on a 97-yard kickoff return, for Kell.

The big-play Longhorns got another touchdown on an 80-yard pass play from Cameron Rosendahl to Taylor Hinkle.
