Friday Football Preview: Regional Action Continues
Walton, Wheeler, Pope and Walker all play at home tonight.
Marietta (4-4, 4-0) at Walton (8-0, 4-0) – The only two teams still unbeaten in Region 5-AAAAA play face off tonight when Marietta travels to . The Raiders are perfect on the season and have won their last two games by 35 and 38 points, respectively. Marietta won a dogfight last week over Lassiter and seems to have recovered from an 0-4 start to the season.
Hiram (3-5, 1-4) at Pope (7-1, 4-1) – pulled off an amazing upset last week at East Paulding and now sits in a 3-way tie for first place in the Region 5N-AAAA standings. Hiram has lost four games in a row and is looking to regroup after its Bye Week. The last time the Hornets played, they lost by 49 points to East Paulding.
Darlington (6-2, 4-1) at Walker (2-6, 1-4) – With two games remaining on the regular season schedule, Walker has already been mathematically eliminated from postseason play. But, they can disrupt the top of the Region 6-A standings by beating Darlington at home tonight. The Tigers are in a 4-way tie for first place.

Cherokee (1-7, 0-4) at Wheeler (3-6, 1-4) – After a week off returns to play on the road at Wheeler. The Warriors have averaged just over 6.5 points per game in their last seven games – all losses – and are giving up 30 points per game, a Region 5-AAAAA worst. The Wildcats sit just one game ahead of Cherokee in the region standings and have been pummeled in their last two games.
