Cobb Teams Continue State Softball Play

Lassiter, Kennesaw Mountain, Hillgrove, Harrison and Pope will be in action Wednesday.

Five Cobb County high school softball teams return to action Wednesday as the Georgia High School Association state tournament continues.

Four of those schools are in Class AAAAAA and two will be starting out their second-round series at home.

Lassiter plays host to seventh-ranked Archer, the defending state champions. The Lady Trojans entered the post-season as the No. 1 team in the state, according to Score Atlanta magazine.

Kennesaw Mountain, ranked No. 3, will be at home against Tift County.

No. 8 Hillgrove will be playing at No. 10 Lowndes in Valdosta, and Harrison visits East Coweta.

In Class AAAAA, sixth-ranked Pope, last season's state runner-up, will play at No. 5 Heritage of Conyers Wednesday.

All Wednesday action will be doubleheaders in a best-two-of-three-format.

Third games, if necessary, will be played on Thursday.

The winners of this week's series advance to the final eight to be played in Columbus.

Allatoona also reached the Class AAAAA tournament as the No. 1 team but was upset by Cambridge in the first round.
