Atlanta North Stars Win State Title

The Level 7 team from the East Cobb gymnastics center earned top honors last weekend over 27 other squads.

Thanks to Katherine Smith for sending along the good word about a team from the East Cobb-based Atlanta North Stars Gymnastics:

Atlanta North Stars Gymnastics (ANSG) won the USAG Georgia State Championships for Level 7 held at Kennesaw State University, March 22 - 24, by scoring a 114.05 and defeating 27 other Georgia gymnastic teams. 

Five ANSG gymnasts qualified for the USAG Southeastern Regional Championships for Level 7 being held at Georgia State University, April 19. Tori Penn and Caroline Lingle, both of Atlanta, and Lila Smith of Sandy Springs were regional qualifiers.

Jenna Busch of  Marietta and Elizabeth Smith of Sandy Springs scored in the top 8 All-Around of the 200 girls competing and were named to the state of Georgia team which will face the 7 other southeastern state teams at the GSU arena.

ANSG level 7 gymnasts also won individual state championship titles in their respective age divisions. Caroline Lingle won on the floor exercise, Kerlin Anderson also won the floor exercise and in the all-around, Tori Penn won on vault, and Elizabeth Smith  won on beam and in the all-around. Level 8 gymnast Ella Small won on the uneven bars.

ANSG Levels 9 and 10 teams also had 7 gymnasts qualify for their respective Regional Championships. Emilee Hagerman, Mia Shackleford, Taylor Wills, Aundria Crittenden, Natalie Bauer, Jessie Aman and Kasey Nelson will compete in Jackson, Mississippi, April 12-14.

Atlanta North Stars Gymnastics, owned and operated by head coach Grisha Gutkin, is located at 4957 Lower Roswell Road, and offers competitive team gymnastics, recreational gymnastics classes and cheerleader training.
