And it was the in the Georgia Class AAAAA state title team that capped one of the most successful years in metro Atlanta prep sports.

While Walton's trophy collection is the East Cobb sports story of the year, nearby rival also posted a remarkable all-sports record. 

The Greyhounds won another state title , and earned their third straight state crown . 

They reached the finals of the state title game and both basketball teams earned trips to the state tournament. 

The football team recorded and reached the state playoffs for the second year in a row. 

Walton was in Class AAAAA in the Director's Cup, the all-sports honor by the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association. In Class AAAA, Pope in the state.
