Walton Wins Georgia Science Bowl

The team from the East Cobb school advances to national competition after winning the Georgia championship.

For the third consecutive year,  has won the Georgia Science Bowl and has qualified for the national finals sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy in April. 

Walton, a six-time state champion, finished third in the 2005 national competition.

The Science Bowl competition tests students' knowledge of all branches of science -- biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, astronomy, and mathematics -- in a Jeopardy-style format.

“Congratulations to the students at Walton High School – some of America’s future leaders in the science, technology, engineering and math fields,” said U.S. Energy Secretary Steven Chu this week. “Through the National Science Bowl, we’re challenging today’s students and ensuring that America stays competitive in a rapidly advancing world.”
