Walton to Hold McLeod Memorial

The East Cobb orthopaedic surgeon who founded the high school's sports medicine program will be remembered Thursday at Raider Valley.

is holding a memorial service Thursday night for orthopaedic surgeon Hugh C. McLeod III.

McLeod, 61, died of leukemia Friday in Houston, according to an obituary published by the Staunton, VA, News Leader.

The Mississippi native and University of Mississippi graduate was the founder of East Cobb’s and established the sports medicine program at Walton High.

The high school’s Hugh C. McLeod Wellness Complex and Sports Medicine Center was named in his honor in 2001.

His family has asked for memorial contributions to be made to the wellness complex, the Georgia chapter of the Arthritis Foundation or the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society.
