Walton Girls Tennis Team Headed for Hall of Fame

Induction is Saturday in Atlanta Sports Hall located in Roswell.

The Walton girls tennis team will earn another major distinction this weekend to recognize its dominance in high school competition.

The Lady Raiders will be inducted in the Atlanta Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday for establishing a Georgia high school record with 147 consecutive victories.

Walton's 2011 team recently won its eighth consecutive GHSA Class AAAAA state championship.

The induction ceremony takes place from 5:30 to 10 p.m. at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center, 950 Forrest St. The event is open to the public, with ticket prices ranging from $20 to $100. A reception, raffle and silent auction will be held with the awards and induction to follow.

Other inductees include former Georgia Tech basketball star Mark Price, ex-Atlanta Falcons linebacking standout Jesse Tuggle, Peachtree Road Race founder Dr. Tim Singleton, and the Clayton State University women's basketball team, which won the NCAA Division II national title in March.
