Tritt Raises $10K in Relay For Life

Students, teachers, staff and parents at the East Cobb elementary school actively participated in the cancer fundraiser.

Relay for Life is an annual fund-raiser from the American Cancer Society.

Each year teams are formed and challenged to raise as much money as they can before the actual event (which is always held the Friday before Mother's Day at Jim Miller Park).

Teams spend an evening together to celebrate cancer survivors and to remember those that have passed from this tragic disease. Members from each team walk the track as part of the event. Special activities, music and food are also a part of the evening's festivities.

The Tritt Elementary School team worked to collect donations throughout the school year, first reaching out to the faculty and staff.

The United For A Cure t-shirt sale became the school's Thursday uniform and was a huge success.

Another highly successful (and always popular) event was the Relay For Life Carnival. The faculty and staff donated all the items sold at concessions and some worked that day to cook and sell the items. This year Tritt added a raffle with prizes donated from some of our FAST programs, partners in ed and local vendors.

Luminary bags also were available for purchase and decoration.

Tritt students added to the funds by donating money to wear hats to school, dress like twins and supported all of the after-school events for this cause.

Teachers, staff and students made this year one of the best ever, with grand total $10,241 raised.

The Tritt team thanks everyone for their incredible generosity and commitment to helping raise funds that will hopefully bring an end to this horrific disease. We believe that together we can make a difference.
