Timber Ridge Named Blue Ribbon School

The U.S. Department of Education has honored an East Cobb school with this distinction for the 11th time.

has been designated a Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. 

The honor goes to public and private schools that achieve high marks of student achievement. Timber Ridge was cited for scoring in the top 10 percent on state assessments in reading, language arts and mathematics.

Only seven other schools in Georgia earned Blue Ribbon status this year, and Timber Ridge is the 10th East Cobb school to receive the distinction (scroll to the bottom to see the full list) since it began in 1984.

Walton High School (twice); Dickerson, Hightower Trail and East Cobb middle schools; and Mt. Bethel, Sope Creek, Murdock, Eastvalley and Shallowford Falls elementary schools are previous Blue Ribbon recipients from East Cobb. 

Timber Ridge principal Dr. Tracy Roe will travel to Washington, D.C. in mid-November to formally accept the honor.
