School Funding Advocates Lobby at Capitol

East Cobb parents and elected officials were part of the joint effort to address "shoestring budgets" for public education.

Thanks to Julia Curran Villareal for the information and photo from the Georgia Capitol, where school funding advocates from East Cobb and the state met today. Here's some background on an issue East Cobb Patch has been covering since last fall:

The turnout for the "Day at the Capitol: Tell the Gov. and Georgia Lawmakers to 'Stop Putting Our Schools on Shoestring Budgets!" has been wonderful!

EmpowerED Georgia Action partnered with FACE It Cobb for a Day at the Capitol. Parents, educators, and community members from across Georgia got together to talk with their State Representatives and Senators, urging them to restore funding to our public schools.

The group wore green and and handed out shoestrings, emphasizing the point that Cobb Schools are suffering and can't fully educate its students with current budget shortfalls. For more information, visit: http://shoestringcampaign.com/
