Murdock Student Wins Cobb Science Fair

Fourth-grader Oliver Long's presentation about the Chattahoochee River took top honors over the weekend.

A student from East Cobb's Murdock Elementary School was the Grand Prize winner of Saturday's Cobb County School District Elementary Science Fair at Kennesaw Mountain High School.

Oliver Long, a fourth-grader, was among the nearly 140 students who entered projects in the fair.

His presentation covered tributaries of the Chattahoochee River.

Three times the number of students entered the fair this year over last year, showing that word is getting out about the quality and importance of science at the elementary level, as well as the interest of students in hands-on learning.
