More East Cobb National Merit Scholars Named

Nine recent grads from Pope, Walton and Wheeler recognized with college aid.

Nine more East Cobb high school graduates have been named winners of National Merit Scholarships, joining announced in May. 

That amounts to a total of 17 for East Cobb students for this academic year. 

The National Merit Scholarship program awards financial assistance for college-bound seniors and high school graduates who typically receive between $500 and $2,000 annually for their undergraduate studies.

-- Lauren Heffelfinger, Walton High School; Baylor; engineering.

-- Alexander Letov, Walton High School; Georgia Tech; medicine.

-- Warren Ma, Pope High School; Emory; business.

-- Cara Mayberry, Wheeler High School; Boston U.; physical therapy.
