Lassiter's Concert to Remember

Cobb school board member David Banks' recollections of Tuesday's choral event with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.

From The Grapevine, Cobb Board of Education member David Banks' e-mail newsletter. He was at Tuesday's concert at Lassiter featuring the Lassiter and Walton choruses and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra musicians:

What a fantastic night! You could not have asked for a better night of musical performance then listening and watching the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra along with the Lassiter and Walton choirs at their best.

Conducting was Walton's Chorus Director Dr. Jana Williams, Lassiter's Chorus Director Mr. Brian Williams, and the ASO Staff Conductor Mr. Jere Flint. If you are wondering, the Williams are a married couple.

Notables in attendance were Post 1 Board member Mr. Randy Scamihorn and his wife Debbie, I and my wife Kay, Chief of Staff Mrs. Angela Huff, Chief Financial Officer Mr. Brad Johnson and his wife Martha, Area Assistant Superintendent Dr. Doreen Griffeth, Area Assistant Superintendent Mr. Ed Thayer, Fine Arts Supervisor Melissa Arasi and her husband Mr. Tony Arasi, former Superintendent Mr. Fred Sanderson, Lassiter Assistant Orchestra Director Mr. James Thompson, Walton Principal Mrs. Judith McNeill, and Lassiter Principal Dr. Chris Richie.

Lassiter Orchestra Director Ms. Carol Doemel and Walton Orchestra Director Mr. Perry Holbrook were participating muscians in the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.  It is amazing how much talent exists in the East Cobb community.

I'll be there; rabbi Alper should be good (his You Tube videos are entertaining). CongratulationsRead More to Henry Hene and the Habitat coalition for doing such wonderful work and promoting "We Build to Coexist, We Coexist to Build." Congratulations to Addie and Harvey Schneider -- both are the definition of mensch.

Hurray for the "old school" which just means having a few manners. Ms. Smith alwaysRead More seems to present three facts after what seems to be extensive research. People can disagree without being rude or spouting half truths. I'm glad we still have some ethical and honest people in our midst.
