Lassiter to Hold 'Community Conversation' on Future of Cobb Schools

Thursday's meeting will present long-term options for the district, including the possibility of becoming a charter system.

The Cobb County School District will be seeking public comment on what it calls its "Vision 2026" initiative at a public meeting Thursday at Lassiter High School.

At the meeting, which will take place from 6:30-8:30 p.m., district officials will brief the public on three operational options the district must choose from by next year. Lassiter teachers and staff will be given a similar presentation at 4:30 p.m.

The school is located at 2601 Shallowford Road.

A new state law requires all public school districts in Georgia to decide from the three options how they intend to operate:

  • Investing in Educational Excellence School System
  • Charter System
  • Status Quo School System
More on each of these options can be found by visiting the CCSD's Vision 2026 page.

Previous public meetings took place at Campbell High School, South Cobb High School and Kennesaw Mountain High School.

Public feedback from the meetings will be used to help the district determine which option to pursue.
