Good Luck to the Lassiter Marching Band!

The East Cobb school once again will be performing in the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day.

If it's New Year's Day, the Lassiter High School marching band must be in action.

It certainly seems that way, as Lassiter will be one of 26 bands included Tuesday in the Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena, Calif.

It will be the fourth time Lassiter has been invited to the parade, which is more than a precursor to the Rose Bowl football game between Wisconsin and Stanford later Tuesday.

The parade is one of the signature events of New Year's Day, with or without a pigskin in play.

Here's a message from Lassiter band director Alfred Watkins:

We are honored to represent Lassiter High School, our Lassiter community, Marietta, and the state of Georgia in the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day 2013. The students have been working very hard to prepare for the five and a half mile parade on New Year's Day. This is the band's fourth appearance in the parade. This also marks 25 years to the day that our school took our first trip to Pasadena to march in one of the greatest parades in the world!

The parade will be televised on New Year's Day on ABC, CBS, NBC, HGTV, and many more. HGTV has the best coverage with no commercials! While marching down Colorado Boulevard, the students will perform for more than a million people in person and millions more will watch them on television. The band is very excited to be marching as the seventh unit in the parade and the first high school marching band!

Thank you for your continued support of the students and the band program.

I'll be there; rabbi Alper should be good (his You Tube videos are entertaining). CongratulationsRead More to Henry Hene and the Habitat coalition for doing such wonderful work and promoting "We Build to Coexist, We Coexist to Build." Congratulations to Addie and Harvey Schneider -- both are the definition of mensch.

Hurray for the "old school" which just means having a few manners. Ms. Smith alwaysRead More seems to present three facts after what seems to be extensive research. People can disagree without being rude or spouting half truths. I'm glad we still have some ethical and honest people in our midst.
